People know that I am a fan of the following things:
Batman
Adam West
Mark Hamill
Legos
Especially when Batman is played by Adam West
Or if it's a Batman story involving the Joker being played by Mark Hamill.
Especially if it's a Batman story starring Adam West as Batman and Mark Hamill as The Joker in the form of Legos (even if they're computer-animated legos.)
Thus, I was amazed by this neat short movie (warning: Quicktime movie. It might take time to load).
Also, winds up I'm in the same Creative Writing and Major British Writers class as Simon! Awesome!
I got to work 12 minutes late today. Total Dane Cook moment: woke up at 9:58 when I was supposed to get to work at 10.

Just found out that Daniel Tosh has had a CD/DVD set out since November!!!! And if there's one comedian I like better than Dane Cook, it's... Mitch Hedberg. But if there are 3 comedians I like better, it's Mitch, Demetri Martin and Daniel Tosh. Therefore, I will be off to Newbury Comics to get on that shit.

I watched September, the mini-documentary about the making of Ryan Adams' Jacksonville City Nights, which sucked, but it encouraged me to complete the incomplete songs I've had floating around my head/notebooks for awhile.
But before THOSE songs... This is something I wrote last night after I updated.
Prisons
Held in a heart-shaped cage
That's broken but he doesn't leave
Somewhat naive, he's always in need
But why doesn't he leave?
There aren't shackles to be seen
And no cuffs to keep him in the cell
The door's rusted well and one wall fell
Years ago he could've left this hell
There's no guard against an escape
He's got 2 feet and pride enough to stand straight
No trap or bait for iron gate
Why does he let it get so late
Because he's in love with the guard who left long ago
And I am ready to die, but dying's a business that's slow
-------
Yeah, I butchered the form of a Shakespearean sonnet.
And just one more for tonight...
Worn Grooves, Warning You
The tail lights blink red
For miles on the overpass
And they're going nowhere tonight
But someone's gonna move to another scene
There's duct tape on the dial
The radio's broke like noses and artists
Bleeding while you suffocate
The volume's up at 2 like the artists
The station stutters a long sad song
How can you get the chorus?
Tonight's just like
The sun's set on the radio tonight
The station stutters a long sad song
All the words spill like it's porous
Tonight's just like
The sun's set on the radio tonight
Here's the record for a quick spin
Thank's, I'm well-equipped, for the record
It's a good thing it'll blow my mind
I won't have to blow my mind out myself
It looks nice, like batting eyelashes
From an idol handing out whiplashes
Locks, chains and door latches
Are no match to burn what I adore
The station stutters that old sad song
All the blah, blah blah begins to bore us
Tonight's just like
The sun's set on the radio tonight
Starry night over Lover's Lane
He's got his hand in her underpass
They're gonna go somewhere, They're gonna go tonight
Backed up traffic on the radio be damned
The same some plays on the radio
As the song that sang for their parents
What kind of friction will move the dial tonight?
Where's the new song for when the old one's broke?
-------
Yeah, I'm a 20 year old bitter old person.
I got more songs, but I'd rather listen to other people than try to sort through all the ideas in my head. I need another me... I don't listen to music while I'm writing (it greatly interferes with my ability to focus), and that sucks.

Not a huge fan of these, since they focus on current and crappy movies that are popular with the teen/tween crowd (like The Lizzie Maguire Movie... And shut up about me seeing that. My room was the only one with a DVD player at the time and my sister wanted to watch it, OK?). Still, if LJ's good for one thing, it's for wasting my time like that...
The fact that only two of the films I chose while I was still president of my high school's Great Film Society made that list makes me feel out of touch (three if you count The Ring... but that movie sucked and was not my choice to show. The others that made the list were Star Wars Episode V, and we saw Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in the theaters). Or maybe I'm just more knowledgeable than the current generation of movie viewers. Cuz they all suck. I mean... Why is Bedazzled on this thing? Is it cuz it's on Starz all the freaking time (which is how I saw it...)?
It's funny. It kind of offended me as a film buff (lack of great films), as a horror flick buff (lack of sequels/more obscure horror films... Hell, virtual lack of even the shitty horror remakes Hollywood's been so fond of lately), and as a fan of shitty movies (Chuck. Norris.)

for some reason all i could think of when i saw the title "prisons" was soad's "prison song"
January 21 2006, 02:56:55 UTC 6 years ago
And yeah, my song has nothing to do with SOAD.
